Apple’s New MacBook Pros: New Notch, New Processors!

Apple unveiled new MacBook Pro models in their October 2021 event. The new MacBook Pro series consists of two screen sizes, 14 inches, and a 16-inch model. Both of these models will consist of new Apple Silicon Chips: M1 Pro and M1 Max, which Apple suggested will beat similar higher-end Intel processor laptops.

Interestingly, Apple added more ports this time, unlike a couple of type-C (thunderbolt)  ports on previous generations of the Apple Macbook Pro. The updated models now get an HDMI port, card reader, and beloved MagSafe charger (new generation) back! Well, Apple did remove the same features when they brought Macbook Pro models with the butterfly keyboards and added the touch bar. The touchbar also went out and made way for the conventional function keys on the updated models of new Pro devices.

As per the model configuration and CPU selection, 67W, 96W, and 140W USB-C type chargers will come in the box. These models are also equipped with 1080p webcams and to make the screen-to-body ratio even better, Apple introduced a notch on the top center of the screen. Though this notch does not make way for any Face ID here, maybe future models will welcome this feature.

Apple claims the new six-speaker sound system improves Bass and loudness. This also includes two tweeters for pro-level sound quality.

The new SoC offers improved performance over the M1 chips of last year. With more memory capability, better GPUs, and better machine learning performance and efficiency, the M1 Pro and M1 Max will make the experience better. The 14-inch model will offer up to 17 hours of playback time, whereas the 16-inch model claims to have up to 21 hours of video playback time.

Conclusions

Overall, the new MacBook Pro models bring a lot of promises, performance, and battery improvements. The real-life reviews and specification tests will bring out the truth.

Till then, have a great time ahead.
