Ford to Shutdown Indian Manufacturing Plants

Will falling sales and lower usage of the efficiencies of production units, Ford India is set to shut down its Indian manufacturing plants soon. Ford has two primary manufacturing units in India – Sanand and Chennai.

However, due to low production in plants, Sanand’s plant will likely shut down first and the Chennai plant will fulfill customer orders for around the year 2022. But, Sanand’s Engine production factory is likely to continue its production in the coming years. For this, the company has hinted that by the quarter fourth of 2021, they will slow down the production in the Sanand plant, and from the second quarter, the Chennai plant will reduce production.

Ford will continue providing customer services, spare parts, and orders in India though. Also, they will end their car manufacturing and exports from India, but the engine export business will continue. Ford will be present in the Indian market via some outlets to sell cars like Mustang Coupe, Mustang Mach-E (EV), and more. They will come as CBU (completely built units) in India.

The current Ford lineup of Figo, Freestyle, EcoSports, etc will be sold till the stock remains with the manufacturing facility.

They also recently launched the automatic version of Figo automatic and tried to apply a lot of strategic changes for the Indian audience. But those changes do not seem to work at all. Ford India’s president also Twitter a video from the official account and announced the decision and next planning from the company. After Fiat and GM, Ford’s exit is also a huge disappointment for fans!
