Honda Activa 6G: 5 Things You Should Know

The Honda Activa 6G has arrived with a subtle yet noteworthy update, captivating scooter enthusiasts across India. Here are five essential things to know about this latest iteration:

1. Understated Cosmetic Updates: While the design remains largely similar to the Activa 5G, the Activa 6G features a new front fender, chrome trim on the front apron, and a redesigned rear grab rail.

The elongated tail section accommodates a new external fuel filler cap, while the side panels now sport a single air intake. The scooter’s length increase has resulted in a longer floorboard and seat. The available color options have been reduced to six.

2. Price Premium: The Activa 6G is available in Standard and Deluxe. The Honda Activa 6G price is Rs 70,599 for the standard variant, while the Deluxe variant retails at Rs 72,345 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The price difference between the Activa 6G and Activa 5G variants aligns with other scooters transitioning from BS4 to BS6. Honda offers a 3-year warranty plus a 3-year extended warranty on the Activa 6G.

The Honda Activa 6G combines subtle design updates, new features, an improved motor, and updated underpinnings to deliver a compelling scooter experience.

3. New Features: The Activa 6G features an external fuel filler cap accessible through a switch near the ignition slot. The Deluxe variant offers an LED headlamp. The switchgear includes a new pass light switch and engine kill switch.

Surprisingly, the Activa 6G features an analog instrument console, departing from the semi-digital console of its predecessor.

4. All-New Motor: Instead of focusing solely on additional features, Honda has developed an entirely new 109.51cc BS6-compliant engine for the Activa 6G. The motor undergoes fuel combustion, engine cooling, and refinement improvements while incorporating fuel injection.

Honda claims the new motor offers enhanced bottom to mid-range performance for better city riding capabilities. The power output stands at 7.79PS at 8000rpm and 8.79Nm at 5250rpm, slightly lower than the Activa 5G, but fuel efficiency is expected to increase by 10%.

5. Updated Underpinnings: The Activa 6G now boasts telescopic front forks and a 3-step preload-adjustable mono-shock, improving ride quality. The front wheel has been upgraded from 10 to 12 inches, while steel wheels and drum brakes are retained to maintain affordability.

Although many had hoped for a front disc brake option, Honda has not included it in this model. The wheelbase has increased, and ground clearance has been improved as well.

Why Should You Buy Honda Activa 6G?

One of the most remarkable upgrades in the Honda Activa 6G is the inclusion of telescopic forks at the front, providing improved suspension and handling. The 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels complement this enhancement, ensuring stability and maneuverability in various road conditions. With dimensions measuring 1833 mm in length, 697 mm in width, and 1156 mm in height, this scooter offers a spacious riding experience. Its wheelbase of 1260 mm and ground clearance of 171 mm further contribute to its confident and comfortable performance.

In terms of comfort, the Honda Activa 6G features a generously long seat, extending up to 692 mm, delivering maximum comfort for riders during long journeys. The Smart Key variant also offers a keyless operation system for convenient handlebar lock/unlock easy access to under-seat storage, and hassle-free fuel lid opening. Notably, this variant also provides advanced security features such as an anti-theft function and the ability to locate the scooter using the key. Accessing these functions is effortless through a user-friendly knob-style switch integrated into the scooter.

Further enhancing the Activa 6G’s functionality, it now incorporates a kill switch that also serves as a starter button, enabling a smooth and silent start operation. Including a pass light switch adds a practical touch, enhancing safety in various riding scenarios. For those seeking a more premium experience, the Deluxe variant of the Activa 6G comes equipped with an LED headlight, offering enhanced visibility and a sophisticated aesthetic, making it the best buy in the market right now.

Overall, the Activa 6G presents a compelling package with its upgraded features, refined motor, and improved underpinnings. The scooter retains its iconic design while incorporating subtle cosmetic updates. With the addition of telescopic forks, a longer seat, and advanced keyless operations, the Honda Activa ensures enhanced comfort and convenience for riders.
