Why WiFi called WiFi?

We have been using smartphones and mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, Chromebooks, and more for many years. Well, apart from Lan, our sophisticated thin devices are always connected with the internet and each other with the help of a technology called WiFi. But, have you ever imagined why WiFi is called WiFi?

Why WiFi is called WiFi? 🤔

WiFi is an abbreviation for Wireless Fidelity. It was intended to act the way high-quality audio equipment transfers data wirelessly and is called wi-fi.

The way hi-fi systems transmit high-quality audio wirelessly, WiFi technology was used to transfer data wirelessly.  The name ‘WiFi’ is based on radio waves, similar to how hi-fi systems transmit audio.

Benefits of using WiFi

WiFi is used to create wireless network connectivity for devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets, office accessories, and others. It simply allows us to get rid of cables and communicate or use the internet without significantly losing the data transfer speeds.

WiFi makes it convenient for users to access the internet or share files, photos, and information from anywhere with anyone under the range of an active WiFi network.

WiFi is different than Bluetooth technology, though.
